ANATOMY FIRST

Drekkubus anatomy is very important. Remember that, when you want a specific wild trait on your Drekkubus that is not allowed, there's a reason for that. We need to stay true to our species in order to stay true to who we are, if we continuously make exceptions, we will no longer be a uniform, well-regulated species. We're very sorry if this upsets you! But let's get to it!

1. 5 bones on the tail tip. The tip of the tail is actually not directly bone. It is 5 joints of a bone-like material that harden around a hilariously bald tail tip. Drekkubus developed this odd protection because they got their tails trod upon or injured pretty regularly. Not anymore! Yay, adaptation! If the tail is cut or severed, the boney covering does grow back.
2. Feline-like face, separated nostrils, rounded muzzle.
3. (HANDS) 3 fingers + 1 thumb with pawpads
4. (FEET) 4 toes, no pawpads
5. All Drekkubus have pupils, sclera, and an iris. Tends to be round or slit but as long as it has a pupil it's acceptable.
6. All Drekkubus are capable of summoning and dismissing a skull-mask, when worn, the eyes disappear and become will-o-the-wisps.
7. All Drekkies have a large and fluffy mane, as well as chest fur, albeit highly customizable.

8. The long ears usually each the rump area.

9. Tail is held upright when in motion, drags when at rest.  Drekkubus hips and spines have a VAST range of motion that is not found in Earth mammals. That’s why they are capable of moving in a raptor-like stance when in motion, and relaxing backward on the tail when at rest.

10. Drekkubus claws are very long and bear/badger/skunk like, and yes they do retract like a cat.

11. The inner ear AND horns: The inner ear can be fleshy skin, or soft minky-like fur. The horn can be smooth like antler or cow horn, or again lined with soft minky-like fur.

12. 2 horns and no more and no less. The only exceptions being aquatics, plumes, and certain mutations.

AN ANATOMICAL BREAKDOWN

Alright! Let's take this bit by bit to better understand a DREKKUBUS!

PAWS: First, let's talk T O E B E A N S. Or hand beans really, because Drekkubus do not have any paw pads on the four toes on their feet. Drekkies have THREE fingers and ONE thumb on both hands. The claws are long and badger-like, longer than a cat's claws and stronger than a dog's nails. Drekkubus have big hands, and thus have occasional difficultly with tasks that involve minute proportions. This is where the claws come in handy. Drekkie claws are hyper-sensitive, and can actually work as extensions to the paws. They can use them to perform delicate tasks. The downside to this is that, if by some rough force a nail is broken, excuse my french but, that summbitch is going to hurt.

All Drekkies have the standard pawpads except Aquatics (reminder: only Standard type Drekkies can be Aquatic) -- they have a soft and squishy singular pawpad with webbed fingers. Whoa! They have this on their hind feet too, totally unlike any other type of Drekkie.

MUZZLE: The muzzle makes the species, folks. While a lot of cuties out there have rounded muzzles, we have one of the roundest you'll find. Drekkies come equipped with an all-natural snoot absolutely made for boops. The stop is a perfect curve, but no, the skull of a Drekkubus is not round on the muzzle. Extra cartlidge and tissue in that snozzer make a round shape that's capable of opening and closing, completely sealing, the nostrils completely. Breeding between Aquatic drekkies and other drekkies introducing this trait so strongly in the past that it completely wiped out genes for non-sealing nostrils. Drekkies mouths are very feline like, with big kitter cheeks, but NO whiskers. This has to do with their dragon relations, and it seems that the extra senses that whiskers pick up, Drekkies can sense with their fancy smart-nostrils. Who needs an i-phone when you have snazzy booger-caves?

BONEY FACE MASK: Drekkubus have the ability to summon and dismiss a mask made of bone that they wear on their face. Stemming from their dragon-ancestors’ magic, Drekkubus can summon and dismiss (by waving a paw over the face) a boney skull mask. The eyes of the Drekkubus disappear when the mask is on and become flame will-o-the-wisps, and the mask is unremovable unless the Drekkubus dies or removes it themselves. This mask is feline-like, always. The mask can have small sprouted horns, bumps, decorations, gems, etc, but must remain extremely similar to the image above, and always a cat-like skull.

(Note: Previously it was a rule that Behemoth Drekkubus could not dismiss the mask and had to carry it at all times. This is no longer valid information.)

EYES_CloseUp.png

EYES: Drekkie eyes usually resemble that of a feline. The pupil is known to dilate and constrict in a similar fashion, and we would prefer that you stick with these pupil rules when you design your Drekkie. But thanks to some new rules, you don't actually have to. The rule is, You must have a distinguishable sclera (the white of the eye, any color is okay), a distinguishable iris (the blue part of the eye, any color is okay) and a distinguishable pupil (the black of the eye, any color is okay.) But it needs to have all thee, distinguishable, otherwise, you can do what you want. They have large feline-shaped eyes.

TAILS:

  • There are four types of tails a Drekkubus can have. (Remember to add fur, spikes, etc accordingly matching your chosen body type too.)

  • First is the standard or normal tail, the second tail shown is the Bone tail, the third tail shown is the forked tail, and the last tail shown is the nubbed tail. We'll talk about them all briefly.

* * *

  • Standard tail, or tails in general: Drekkie tails are truly pure muscle. While they may be cuties, we know, and they aren't exactly the scariest species you've ever seen, there's no denying that a mammal hitting you with a tail weighing well over 100lbs of pure muscle would break you in.... well, you get it. Tails rest on the ground when at rest, sometimes they rest on the ground at a slow walk too. But when walking briskly or running, the tail goes upwards and always droops down due to weight.

  • Bone tail: We like to restrict this fun little tail to one per user. Please consider the anatomy of this crazy thing before you draw it! A lot of people draw it like a ribbon or whip, it's actually pretty stiff and dinosaur-bone like. There IS living tissue inside of that thing, and if you bend it all weird...well... (insert horrified face emoji.) This is a strange tail in general and was created for fun, so if you plan to ask me what happens if they break it... don't. No one wants to imagine that. (Shudder.)

  • Forked tail: This is really common, but drawn incorrectly a lot. Seen here slightly sideways for proper viewing, the tail splits neat the middle and is exactly the same as the standard tail -- just with two tips.

  • Nub tail: Itsy bitsy teensy weeny taily waily. Drekkies with this tail are prone to tripping or stumbling, thanks to their lack of the best rudder and balance they have -- the TAIL! The rule on this tail USED TO STATE that it needed to have SIX joints instead of five. But now we ask for five like all the other tails. Because this is a little confusing now, if you still use the six joints, that's fine. Use five, or use six.
